Dead mail in SMTP (postmaster@xyz.com)

HI all,

REcently, i have seen a lot of dead mail (postmaster@xyz.com) being stuck inside the smtp mailbox. It just happened recently only, and i dont know why.

I just wonder if there is a way to block this address from being stucked inside the smtp mail box and delete it directly when it is received, so that i dont need to delete those dead mail everyday.

Thank you very much.

You can block email address or domains in server configuration document. You go under configuration, Router/SMTP, Restrictions and Controls, SMTP Inbound Controls.

There you have Inbound Sender Controls and Deny messages from the following internet addresses/domains field.

Just enter the address you want to block.

Just check my smtp mail box. Now i got a lot of dead mails from office@xyz.com

I wonder if someone computer is infected by spyware and try to sending out emails using our server?

Check Mail-routing log for IP, if the IP is same for spamed/dead mail, then just add the IP to Inbound Relay Controls/ Deny connections from the following SMTP internet hostnames/IP addresses.

webmaster@xyz.com

info@xyz.com

admin@xyz.com

administrator@xyz.com

sales@xyz.com

are most common worm/virus spamed mail. You should block all these address in Inbound control.

Cause these kind of email address are usually mailbox or just a group in domino directory.

No one sends out mail from such address, even if they do, they do it inside the company, which goes by NRCP protocol and not SMTP.
