DDE Properties tab ignores scroll wheel

  • I have the Properties tab at the bottom of the screen with Events and Problems. If I have that bottom panel open with Properties selected, and “All Properties” selected on the left tab, the content is considerably larger than the panel. Even when this panel has focus (and no value has focus to enable edit) it ignores the scroll wheel. I have to move the cursor and use the scroll bar to move it.

  • For this particular panel I’d prefer to see it do hot-tracking … put the cursor anywhere in the panel and roll the wheel and it scrolls. Panes/panels seem to do that intermittently in DDE, though of course right now I can’t get a one of them to do it. (wry grin) Wasn’t for lack of trying.

  • While on the subject of All Properties, it would be convenient if this either conformed to the panel width, or allowed the developer to change the right margin. A “column shift” cursor appears in the upper right corner, and a drag “moves” it, but it won’t actually change.

Thanks for your time…

EDIT: It’s even worse than I thought. If the All Properties sub-content (that takes up half the width of the Properties tab) is expanded “enough”, by some hidden automagic criteria, it paints an independent scroll bar inside the Properties tab. That internal scroll bar does pay attention to the scroll wheel when the Properties tab has focus, but the Properties scroll bar does not.

To add insult to injury, this second (counter-intuitive) scroll bar is as tall as the Properties scroll bar. That means it is utterly impossible to see all the content without using both scroll bars in concert. It’s that nightmare thing again. Who thinks up this stuff? And who rubber stamps it in QA?

some scroll wheel issues have already been addressed in the “next” code base, but not the all properties one. We’ll investigate, thanks!
