@DbColumn Not refreshing

I have a problem that I am not sure is solvable:

This form is used exclusively on the Notes Client, not the web

I have an editable ComboBox field using a @DBColumn formula to get its choices. That formula is:

@DbColumn(“”;NoCache:“”:“PSS.NSF”;“VN”;1)

I have it set to “Refresh Fields on Keyword change” and also “Refresh Choices on Document Refresh”

This ComboBox is set to also allow values not in the list of choices.

If a user types in an option not in the list, the new option is added to the view being used by the DBColumn formula. BUT when a user goes to create a new form the @DBColumn formula is not picking up the new value they added from the previous form.

The user has to close the Notes DB and re-open it for the @DBColumn to pick any newly added values.

Am I missing something? Is there something I have to do with the view properties on the view being used by the @DBColumn formula?

I’ve tried the following:

I added this code to both the Entering and Exiting event of the field with no luck;

Dim workspace As New NotesUIWorkspace

Dim uidoc As NotesUIDocument

Set uidoc = workspace.CurrentDocument

Call uidoc.Refresh

I’ve set the form property to “Automatically Refresh Fields” with no luck

I’ve tried hitting F9 with the form active with no luck

I have the view being used by the @DBColumn formula set to Refresh Automatically and On Refresh is set to “Refresh Display”

Thanks,

Chad

First thing that comes to mind - did you copy&paste that formula from your actual code? It’s got a typo in it - there should be a colon before the NoCache and a semi-colon after, not the other way round as you have got:

@DbColumn(“”:NoCache;“”:“PSS.NSF”;“VN”;1)

Thank you both:

Here is my command that now works:

@DbColumn(“Notes”:“NoCache”;“”:“”;“VN”;1)

For some reason I was getting a “File Does Not Exist” error when I had the statement like this:

@DbColumn(“”:“NoCache”;“PSS.NSF”:“”;“VN”;1)

I’ve got it working now though, thank you.

The reason you got the ‘File Does Not Exist’ error with that statement is because you’ve specified the database path in the space where you should have the server name. As you’ve found though, you don’t need to specify either server or file path when the lookup is looking at a view within the current database.

Glad you’ve got it working!

The word NoCache needs to be enclosed in double quotes.
