The side shelf is meant to be rather small ~1/8 of the screen width.
When opening the day-at-a-glance plugin, the meetings are formatted in a way that you have to do horizontal scrolling.
It would be nice to format it in such a way that no horizontal scrolling is needed. Vertical scrolling would be preferred.
ie (old way):
Date (then scroll to the right) Meeting content
ie (new way):
Date (line break)
Meeting title (line break)
Room (line break)
Location (line break)
Chair (line break)

I had this issue before I upgraded my mail template to the 8.5 version. After that the day at a glance is formatted beautifully:
Time - Time
. Subject Line in bold
. Location
. Chairperson

I agree with original poster, the formatting is not the best.
How about it pops up with the info like the business cards do in Sametime?
You would hove over the entry, and it would enlarge the details.

my day at a glance automatically resizes vertically when you resize the sidebar. i have never seen a horizontal scroll bar
