I want to create a categorized view and be able to sort the items under each category. Is there a way to do this that I am missing?
I have the First Column Sorted Ascending and Type is Categorized. In the Second Column, I have it set to Sort Ascending, the Type is Standard and the column heading clickable to sort ascending or decending.
The items are Categorized perfectly by the first column, but when we click the column heading to sort the second column, it sorts all the items instead of just sorting them within the category and the categories go away.

Then is there a way to get it to do what I want?

No, you cant do what you want that I am aware of. When you click on the column heading you are saying I want the view to be sorted on this column value now.
The only way that I can think of for you to do it and I would never recommend it because of performance, is when you click on the column heading to switch to another view what would would be categorized, but have that column sorted the other way.

Holly, the only other thing you could do is to have a column that is defined the same as your categorized column but not sorted and categorized, and place that column directly after the column that you are clicking on to sort.
Then when the user clicks on the column to sort it, that new column would then show the same data that was in the categorized column, but for each document. Unfortunately, when the view is displayed as normal, i.e, categorized, the data in that new column would be somewhat redundant since it would be showing in the categorized column.
