Database to large

Hello All

On Domino 9, ODS52, I have a database that is 68gigs big, and the database size limitation is 64gigs

Error:

Database has grown too large; use compact to reduce the file size or use file new replica to recreate your file with larger capacity

Is there a way to get documents by data and put them into another database?

Or if there is any other ideas, please let me know. Or, if there are any other questions to be answered ti better diagnose and resolve this, I’m happy to collaborate further.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Domino 10: Sometime this year

I’m hearing “sometime this year” on Domino 10.

Subject: Another option

Another option would be to create a selective replica (for example, replicate only documents in certain views) to salvage data. Then create a second selective replica for the remaining views. I would then discuss with the application owner whether any of the data can be archived.

Subject: Have y’tried copy-compacting the database with new settings?

I’ve had good results using “compress documents” and of course using LZ compression on attachments.

Occasionally I’ve used Domino Administrator to purge some view collections I don’t use and recover enough space to copy documents to another database, or archive the one that’s grown too large.

Subject: Thanks for the suggestions

I’ll try that Barry and reply back with the results, if any.

Thanks again

Subject: Use DAOS?

If you have attachments, try using DAOS. Works wonders.

Create a new template with just one view that you can use to determine which docs need to be removed.Template does not need anything but this view. Redesign this db with this temporary template.

Subject: Feedback - Database to large

Hello All

Just some feedback, I used Jay Marme http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ndseforum.nsf/xpAuthor.xsp?Author=Jay%20Marme suggestion and that did the trick, and I used the option older than xx years. I was able to get the database under 64gigs.

Thanks for the imput.

@Rob Berendt http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ndseforum.nsf/xpAuthor.xsp?Author=Rob%20Berendt - When is Domino10 happening?? (ROFL). Then I would go for that option of large databases.Yet my company is phasing Domino out on most application uses. BUT saying that I have read that Domino10 can web enable just about any database application. If I could see that with my own eyes, it would help myself and my Dev colleague heaps. It would be so nice to tell an end user/IT Manager/MicroSnotMyfault CIO (am I hinting to much here?) that there is a web link to use instead of the client.

Subject: Upgrade to Domino 10 (not 9.0.1FP10) and get 256GB size.

You could upgrade to Domino 10 and get 256GB size.

Subject: Try

If you have a copy of the template of this db or a backup that you can make a template.

Create a view that you will be able to identify documents that you can remove from the database. No need to have any forms, agents in it.

Apply that template to the db

Compact, fixup , updall the db

open that one view and do cleanup

Reapply the real design template to the db
