Database timestamps updated after restarting Notes

After upgrading to Notes 8.5 client (from 8.0.2) I have noticed the behavior is that after restarting the client, the client changes the time/date stamps of my databases in c:\notes\data. This is a major problem for me because I have several large databases that I need to reference, but which are no longer actively changing. I am a home worker with a cable internet connection with only about 50-100Kbps upload speed, and the update of the time/date stamp causes my backup software to flag these database files for backup. I have a few GB of databases that have to be backed up which takes over 2 days of time, and in the meantime my family and I have to put up with a sluggish internet connection. With the number of windows updates coming down to my machine, it seems that my backups never even complete before I have to reboot and start Notes again, starting the whole process over again. The upgrade to 8.5 was the first I’ve noticed this behavior.

On-site workers may not notice the same delays that I do due to better network connections, but I suspect that the networking and backup people have noticed a significant uptick in traffic as people have been upgrading to 8.5. Can the functionality be restored to the way it was before 8.5 and not mess with time/date stamps on database files that aren’t actually changing?

Subject: Do not build automatically / Exclude from Backup

I just looked into my data directory and can confirm that even my templates have an updated timestamp. If you are working with the designer, it could help turning off the “Project → Build automatically” option (not tested that yet). I noticed, that this funktion did update the signing of many design documents i did not even touch on a server, rendering the app useless, as my user did not have sufficient privileges to execute xpages on the server

On the other hand: are those databases replicated with any servers? If so, and the server(s) are backed up regularly, you could just exclude the databases from backup (encryption makes it hard to apply remote backup bit-compressions anyways) - or ask you admin to do so - as you probably would not neccessarily need doubled or tripled backup.

Subject: Database timestamps updated after restarting Notes

The application in question is MyAttachments Tool which removes attachments from individual e-mails and puts them into a local database (avoiding storing redundant attachments). So the database is not replicated from a server (the whole purpose is to get data OFF the server), and if I were to exclude from backup, it would possibly mean loss of my attachments if I were to not back them up. I also am not working with the application developer, although if I can find who to contact I’ll pass along your suggestion.
