For the past couple of weeks we have been getting corrupt databases on one server. What can cause database corruptions? All of these users are 750 MB mail file size and up…
Is there a size limit to a mail file. I understand that 64 GB is the size for a notes file, but some of our mail users have 750 MB up to 5GB. At what point have you guys experienced issues with mail file size?
I do run a nightly compact to regain space.
Any ideas?

Do you run backups on the server in question?Do you use a Domino agent or Open File agent to do the backups?
I’m guessing you do run backups on the server, but use a Windows Open File agent rather than a Domino agent to do it. This is a common cause of database corruption.

Thanks for the response.
Yes we run backups. You are correct, we do not run the Domino agent for these. It is possible that when the backups are running; our compact runs and is corrupting the files.
However, with 6 total mail servers, there is only one server that is having this issue. All servers are configured the same from an image and all are backed up the same way.
I will explore the backup issue more…

Perhaps you are running a full database scan from an Anti Virus product on the problem server? This is pretty much guaranteed to cause problems if you are not using a Domino backup agent.
