"Database has not been opened yet" error

I have a database that runs an agent to make databases based a choice of templates. The templates are all in the root directory.

The agent works successfully for 4 of the 6 templates. For 2 of them the above error is returned.

I have:

Verified the filename in the code is valid

Replaced the templates in case of corruption

Verified the ACL settings. The ACLs are the same for ALL templates.

Any other ideas?

Hi Nicola

It’s a long shot but I seem to remember a problem years ago on AIX where database filenames were case sensitive in lotusscript - have you checked that?

Thanks a lot! We have problems with the OpenMail-function. It uses the MailServer and MailFile-parameters from the notes.iniIt seems that in our configuration they are still uppercase, but mailfiles are moved to AIX-machines and set to lowercase…

I still need to check if the code runs ok with adapted ini-parameters, but this helps me a lot.

Hi Nicola

Looks like you’ve already tried everything I could think of…

A couple of other possible ideas:

Have you tried issuing the [call db.open(“”,“”)] command before trying to do anything else with the database?

i.e.

set db = new notesdatabase(“server”, “fullpath”)

call db.open(“”,“”)

Also, have you tried grabbing them using the “notesdbdirectory” object instead of hard-coding the filenames?
