Database Design Compression Query

Hello everyone!

I’ve just performed a test migration of a Domino 7 to 8.0.1. The databases have been converted to ODS48 and I enabled database design compression on all our mailboxes. I next ran a compact process and during such a process saw the informational message:

Informational, database design compression is enabled in database Mail\testuser.nsf

However when I right click on a particular mail database and select Advanced Properties I find that the Design Compression checkbox is unchecked. Shouldn’t this be checked?

In mixed environments, there is a bug that causes new settings like this one to be unset when the Design task runs against a replica on a prior-release server. Enable compression on the R8 server and replicate to the R7 server. Run Design on the R7 server and replicate back to the R8. Do you see it is unset after replication? If so, it’s a match for this issue. This should be fixed in the next shipping release, but for now the workaround is to only refresh design on the R8 server.
