Database deleted right after creation

Hi all,

I have a problem creating some databases.

First look the creator receive a “you are not authorized to perform that operation” error message.

A second sight show the following at the server console :

Database XXX created by YYYY

The ACL in XXX has been changed by YYYY

Database XXX has been deleted by YYYY (at this exat moment, the user received the error).

This happened for many users including people with Full Admin rights to the server and for creation via + from a notes client and during user account creation.

I’ve checked the access right on the server doc and it’s OK.

Access right on the Templates used are OK as well.

Any help, ideas, thought would be appreciated.

Hi Patrick, I assume you know that: 1) Full right admins will be different from any other user only if you use admin console and specifically enable this option from the menu and 2) you need to have the people assigned to the “Create Databases and Templates” field, not just simple have “Access rights”.

Apart from that this sounds mysterious. A bit not clear - are these the same people who always fail to create any db, or are these just specific dbs (from specific templates?) that fail to get created by whoever tries this? Or databases created from different templates and being created by different people sometimes fail?

You’re right, I know that :slight_smile:

It fails for one person creating a db using the standard iNotes 6 template. I didn’t try with other templates.

Strangely a person with exactly the same access to the server and the same group membership can create a db from the very same template.

All other people allowed to create db on the server can do it.

Apart from that, I have the same issue with another template (custom built) and my account (or the ID of the other admins) but only with that template . We can create any other database from any other template (including iNotes6 :slight_smile: )

I tried to change he template ACL to -Default- = Manager and it changes nothing.

This template has been added recently to the server. We have no problem with older templates.

so I expected, that anything as simple would not confuse you. This sounds next to magic.

I’m totally confused - but here’s the list of straws I’d grasp at:

  1. recreating of the template that always fails - new db and copy over all design and ACL

  2. checking if there is some server addin-task/EM running that could jump at the new db and do something unexpected; try disabling everything not essential

  3. on the same wave - checking if virus scanner could possibly have something to do with this

  4. finally for a person who has problems; dunno - could be some typo in the group membership? some hidden character in his name - remove and copy-paste from the user record once more

  5. or anything unusual about his id/certification; probably not and I’ve not idea where this could come into the play :wink:

After a call to IBM, I learned the following : if one want to create the mail file directly AND place a quota, one need to be server administrator (!?!?!!). Perhaps database admin is enough, but I didn’t want to test it since it is far too much rights to be given to the concerned people.

I found this workaround : make the mail file being created in the background. You can then apply the needed quota and it create the db perfectly …
