Database Catalog Across Servers?

Hi all,

Each of our servers has a Catalog where most of our databases are located. We have our databases (discussion, document, etc) located across all four servers.

Is there any way we can combine all four catalogs into one so that anyone searching for a database will only have to do it once instead of once for each server?

On a related note, is there something better than the Catalog that would contain a listing of all databases in an organization/across all our servers?

Thanks in advance.

Rick

While I’m not an administrator, I was under the impression that the Catalog, like the Name and Address book, was a Domain database. All servers in the domain share the same data, and they are replicated between them. (That’s certainly how our shop is set up.)

Are you servers in the same Domino Domain ?

Rick,

You need to make all of your catalog.nsf databases replicas of eachother and have them replicate. Since they all refresh every night no problem just creating new replicas of one of the four. Check that the ACL is appropriate for your organization.

The Catalog is THE database that knows about all databases in the Domain. However, by default it only tells about databases that have “include in catalog” checked. Open the design and you will see that the View Selection formulae limit what is displayed. Change the formulae or add new views with restricted access so you can “see it all.”

Graham and Bob,

Thanks for the replies guys. They are in the same domain but not replicating with each other. I will set this up tonight and everything should be good.

You know. Sometimes you’re searching for something so complex that the simplest solution is staring at you in the face.
