Daos

All,

I have not tested 8.5 Beta 1 yet but I wanted to know how DAOS would work in this following scenario. We have two Domino Servers one windows 2k3 and one Linux. If I was to have replication enabled for all mail files between the servers how will that affect DAOS? I am assuming that the mail files will still replicate with the references in the mail files but on the other server it will not know about the DAOS database. Will I have to put into the other server configuration document the direct path to the DAOS database or will I have to replicate the DAOS database to the other server?

Thank you for all your information.

Subject: DAOS is server specific, transparent to users and replication

I haven’t tested the DAOS feature in Domino 8.5 yet, but from what I have read there are two principles that should help answer your questions: DAOS is server-specific, and DAOS is transparent to the user.

So if you enable DAOS on one server, the other will replicate full copies of documents and store them as normal. And if you implement DAOS on both, each server will replicate full document copies but store attachments larger than the defined size in its DAOS DB or file store.

I don’t see any references to replicatiing the DAOS database between servers, so I assume it’s not intended to work this way.

OK, thanks. I will set up a test server sometime this week and check it out.
