Dear Developer,
There are various problem reported for DAOS, being the new feature in 8.5.
DAOS doesnt work incase of local replication. We have tested the same in our enviorment. Now most of the Company are opting for centralised mails servers and user local replication for clients. I suggest IBM should should be looking forward to extend the DAOS feature to the local replica.
Subject: DAOS not supported for Notes client
I will take it as a positive sign that you’re complaining that DAOS isn’t available everywhere!
DAOS is not available on the Notes client currently, only on an 8.5 server. If you replicate a DAOS-enabled NSF to a non-DAOS-enabled replica of that NSF, the attachments will be stored in the NSF for that non-DAOS-enabled replica. That includes the Notes client case. (The DAOS-enabled replica will of course continue to participate in DAOS on the server.)
We have considered making DAOS available on the client, and I can’t say for sure that it will or will not be made available. I can say that if it does happen, it will not be in the 8.5.0 release.
Subject: Details please: DAOS and local replicas
I’m really curious to get to know, what limitations you found out in the context of DAOS and local replicas.
What about sharing your experience? Perhaps you could give us an impression or a situation or something you did when you discovered limitations im using DAOS with local replicas.
Subject: Details please: DAOS and local replicas
If this is the case and local mail files have been configured what happens to the attachments if a laptop user who cannot connect to a network and is working on his local replica cannot access the attachments ?Is the going to be an option to enable or disable local replicas from DAOS ?
