We recently enabled the DAOS feature for one of the database in our server. After restarting the server DAOS manager seems to run and it created .NLO files in the specified directory. But not for all documents.!! Lot of documents still have the attachments when I checked them through the document properties.
Issued commands in server console (tell daosmgr dbsummary) to check if the database has the setting enabled and it returned that the db is Synchronized. Not sure why some of the files were moved and some were not?
Can someone help me in resolving this issue. Thanks in advance.
I personally don’t like too much DAOS… I mean, I like having everything in my NSF so I can carry my NSF to another server as in the old days… Imagine that there is a support request where I need to send someone else the NSF because they need to inspect it… I would need to do a Notes Copy of the NSF and then the NSF would not be really the same…
Not even talking about very quick restore and backup… now I need to use a dedicated backup/restore utility and IBM has not provided good API calls for DAOS so ISV cannot really do a good backup/restore software since they don’t know if a given attachment is in DAOS or not…
Anyway, talking about your particular issue, if you use Notes peek and you see the DB information you will see there are some fields about DAOS that indicates the DAOS size for this DB… maybe you can inspect if this value grows when you attach a new attachment.
