DAOS + DOLS question

Can/does DAOS work on an offline DOLS machine? That’s technically running the Domino server, so I would guess that (1) it could be enabled, though it might be a hack to do so, and (2) it would be unsupported.

Not that I really think this is something I care about either way, but I would just like to know for knowledge’s sake.

Thanks!

Subject: Well…

Officially, DAOS is only supported on Domino server 8.5, so…no. Unofficially…as to if you can make it work… Since DAOS is (effectively) spliced into the NSF services just above the file I/O level, it is transparent to all well-behaved Domino API programs. It would really depend on how well-behaved DOLS is, and how much control you have over the ‘server’ configuration. Kids, don’t try this at home!!!

Subject: DOLS and DAOS

DOLS w DAOS is an unsupported configuration. DOLS does not have enough of the server infrastructure to properly run DAOS.

But keep the ideas coming, we are always looking for additional ways to use DAOS to add more value for our customers.

Subject: Thanks - I was just curious

Thanks for the response. I’m definitely not needing it… it’s the engineer in me just thinking out loud. I figured if you were to shoehorn the DAOS tracking database on there and if you were to muck with the DOLS machine’s server config doc you could wrestle it into DAOSing.

XPages on DOLS would be much higher on my wish-list.

Imagine a world.... where offline mobile applications can benefit.... from XSP...
