How does one obtain beta version?
Subject: DAMO 8.0.2
The DAMO 8.0.2 works (for the most part) with Outlook 2007 client is now in production. You can obtain it from the IBM Passport Gold Advantage Partner VIP site.
Subject: Outllok 2007
I have Damo 8.02 and Outlook 2007, and from reading the posts here about support for outlook 2007 and im not impressed.
Using XP, Outlook 2007, Notes Damo 8.02.
My Notes mailbox is about 3gb in size, the synchronization between the Notes client/outlook never finish by the looks of it.
It says its finished but they are never equal.
Outlook Inbox is missing many emails compared to Notes, sent mail is never updated completly between the applications.
Moving mails from one folder to another in Outlook is not updated in Notes, and vice versa.
and i mean folders not views.
Many times the sender view in outlook, shows
Name - emailaddy - Name - emailaddy
so things show double
they always show name and emailadress no matter what i do.
From my view it still looks very much a beta still.

We are not familiar with the problems you’ve experienced, but would like to help. Could you please open a PMR for these issues and ask that it be escalated to the Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook (DAMO) team?
Subject: how
I could, if i can find some instructions on how ![]()

Doing a fresh install of Damo on my computer again to try and see what happens.
Quick comments sofar.
-
initial setup, didnt like global name for mailserver, even if the ip is correct etc. Unable to connect to server no matter what. If i use the server/CMP and the external ip i can move forward with the configuration.

Initial setup putting all the mail into the outlook client. I have a 3Gb mailbox with about 30.000 items, i dont know why,
but i have spent the last 9 hours waiting for it to finish and im only 32% complete. It spends alot of time on updating unread marks.
Litte information avilable for prevention before this tasks get started to speed up the process.
- Outlook view of Inbox. All internal users i se the name and /CMP in the view of sender, but all others i see Display Name, and emailaddress.
This also is in effect even if i register the contact in my addressbook. Some emails also has it listed twice. I would like it to only show the display name if they have it, and the email address if they dont. Not both.
More to follow when inital setup is complete.
Subject: It is difficult to address complex issues on the forum BUT…
It is for that reason it was suggested earlier that you open a Support PMR. Let’s break these issues into smaller pieces and address them one at a time.
You said:

I don’t understand. Pleae answer the following questions:
1 - Are you indide the same network as the Domino server? Or are you trying to access the Domino server from the Internet?
2 - What is the IP address of the Domino server? (You may prefer to email me that IP address but the conversation must continue here, on the forum: Mike_Rowe@us.ibm.com).
3 - What is “server/CMP and the external ip”? Is CMP the certifier?
4 - You said “external IP”. Please explain. What is the internal IP?
Subject: hmms
that why i asked for instructions how to create a PMR as i cant find any solid information about it.
First,
Initial setup of the MAPI profile i am asked to insert the domino server name, and i have 3 options.
Local, Global, and Global IP Address
- I tried to start the DAMO config from the internet. I inserted the Global name, the name that is registered in the dns servers globally.
2.given by mail
-
server/CMP is my example of the local name, “CMP” is short for Company instead of the real certifier.
-
look at answer 2.
Subject: Thanks for the information
PMR - the mechanism used to create and track a Support issue. Customers pay for this. More information can be found here:
=====================================================================
With regard to the information you sent, when tested to see if the Domino server is available using the following command:
telnet 1352
the test indicates that the server is available from the internet. However, when I attempt to reach the server from a Notes client or DAMO, it is unavailable. Using the Notes client to run a trace results in:
Connected to the wrong server server/CMP using address
Connected to the wrong server server/CMP using address
Unable to connect to on TCPIP (Connection denied. The server you connected to has a different name from the one requested.)
server/CMP = your real server name
= your real IP address
The text in Red is generally created when the Domino server’s server doc, “Fully qualified internet host name” field or the “Net Address” on the Ports tab is incorrect.
Before involving DAMO, the best approach is to be able to connect to the Domino Server from the same machine, in the same place, with a Notes client. It is unclear how the internal and external addresses are configured. Is there a Passthru server involved? The trace didn’t reflect that.
This problem is a configuration issue that is beyond DAMO.
Subject: more info
i know the domino server is available, because i use the notes client to replicate directly to the same ip address from internet.
Determining path to server server/CMP
Available Ports: TCPIP
Checking normal priority connection documents only…
Local network connection document found for server/CMP
Verifying address ‘82.xxx.xx.xx’ for server/CMP on TCPIP
Connected to server server/CMP
Attempting Authenticated Connection
Compression is Enabled
Encryption is Disabled
here is a copy of the trace.
there is no passthrough server, there is a port 1352 open in the firewall that points to the domino server in question.
but anyways, even sitting on the LAN, it has still taken me now 2 days to populate the mailfile from the inital setup, and its still not done. It reads a few mails, then spends minuttes on updating unread marks, continue with receiving a few mails, and so on and so on.
other issues.
-
senders info. both name and email address. possible to choose one, or just display one of them
-
Every time i open Outlook im asked for a profile. Even if i select “use as default”, it asks again next time.
-
Unread Marks is not maintained across the system. Mails read in outlook, still remains unread in Notes.
-
Send and receive in Outlook is very slow.
-
Moving of 330 mails from one folder to different folders in Outlook. Changing a folder name, is not updated in Notes without having the “initial setup” software run again, and i have to sit and wait for it to update slowly. Then having to restart Outlook.
After restart there is still a difference between the same folders in outlook and Notes.
Outlook has 497 elements, and Notes has 503 elements. Same with the folder where mail was moved to.
- nwrdaemn.exe has extreme load with oper/sec on the disk, making it 100% load.
Subject: Too much at one time…
I’d like to arrange for me to remote to your machine to first address the connection problem. It is unclear to me why you are failing and under what conditions.
I am located on the East coast of the US. When would it be convenient for us to get together on the phone and a remote session so that I can see exactly what you are experiencing with regard to creating a profile.
That would be the goal of the remote session. First address the ability to connect to the server and create a profile.
Again, if you are more comfortable sending me you contact information and a time, use my email Mike_Rowe@us.ibm.com.
