DAMO 6.5.5, Office 2003 & Contacts (ahhhhhhhh)

Can anyone enlighten me?

There are loads of contacts within Outlook, and they not being propogated into the Mail database (checked via DWA).

I opened the names.nsf associated with DAMO and there are no contacts!!

Emails are working great.

What is going on?

Any assistance would be greatly welcomed.

TIA

Ian

Hi Ian,

In many ways, DAMO works just a DWA works with regard to Contacts. If the contacts exist in the mail file’s $Contacts view, then those contacts will be displayed in both DWA and DAMO.

As I’m sure you know, if there is a Notes client involved, then the “Synchronize Address Book” in the Notes Inbox folder needs to be run to synchronize with the $Contacts view and the local names.nsf of the Notes installation.

Both DWA & DAMO pull directly from the $Contacts view in the server based mail file.

Mike,

Thanks for your response.

So it appears that contacts added in Outlook cannot update the Mail Database, unless you use the Lotus Notes client!!

Do you know if someone has written something that gets Outlook to update contacts in the Mail Database via DAMO or any other alternative?

Thanks

Ian

That’s not the case. It would be true to say that “… contacts added in Outlook cannot update the Notes client’s local names.nsf”

Any contacts created in DWA or DAMO get stored in the server-based mail file.
