I have both the ND6 and R5 Versions of Notes on my machine, each pointing to its own ini file, etc etc. The configuration has worked like a charm, until…
I made an ND6 Copy of a database so someone could do in-view editing of about 100 documents. Th3y finished the edits and I was going to take the easy path and just copy and paste the documents back over.
So I just select all the documents, do my control c, go to the R5 Client, and paste.
But, instead of pasting the documents I am presented with a search dialog or nothing at all and nothing gets pasted.
There is no problem copying between R5 DBs and I had never encountered this when doing similar actions with a R4/R5 combination.
So I guess I will not take the lazy way out and will just write an agent to pull the edited data in.

Why would it work? Notes doesn’t use the system clipboard for Notes objects, so one version would have to read the contents of the other’s clipboard in order to paste across clients.

Hi Stan
Understood; I think what people find weird is that the Notes clipboard format isn’t accessible across versions of Notes. I could swear blind that when I had 4.55 and 5.something running on my machine I was able to copy and paste between them. Now, I have 5.0.11 and 6.0.1CF, and no joy.
Then again, what would R5 do with a pasted in ND6 design element for example? It makes sense I guess.
Subject: RE: Why did you not just use the Browse button in R6 and open the Db from your R5 data dir?
because that would have required thinking backwards:-)…but seriously, I did not want to take a chance of corrupting the design of the R5 database (which happened when I opened and made changes to a R4 database in R5 when it first came out)…
