Customize Mail Frameset - InteriorMailFS

I am trying to customize the Notes 8.5 mail template, specifically the InteriorMailFS frameset.

What I am trying to do is split the left pane into two rows. The existing left pane in the InteriorMailFS is named NotesNavigator. That contains all of your different folders and tools. I split that pane into 2 rows, leaving the NotesNavigator in-tact and at the top. I then added my custom form to the bottom row/pane, which displays fine in Designer. However, when I refresh my design and open the mail file in my Notes client, the custom form/pane NEVER shows up! I get the annoying Follow-Up window in the bottom left rather than my new custom form/pane.

Now the strange part… this only happens with the 8.5 client. If I open the same exact database with the 6.5.5 client, it shows my customization properly and I don’t see the Follow-Up window at all.

So my question is… how can I get this customization to show in the 8.5 client? Obviously it’s there and working properly, as I can see it just fine using the 6.5.5 client. It just doesn’t display in the 8.5 client. Do I have to apply this customization elsewhere? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Subject: You need to modify the navigator component

you should be able to see the results when using the basic Notes client; the expeditor client however displays most standard databases like mail as a composite application.

So you’d have to modify the navigational component as well.
