Crystal Reports - cannot see all forms/views?

We are evaluating Crystal Reports 10 for our Notes reporting. Our configuration is Domino 6.0.2 CF1 server on Red Hat 7.3, client PC’s are Win2000 with Notes 6.5.1

We have installed Crystal 10 on a couple of the workstations and it runs fine but using the native Notes driver we cannot see any more than 29-30 sorted forms and views in a database. Everything we have tried so far does not seem to help. For example, we have one database with double that amount of forms but when we connect with Crystal Reports we can only see the first 29-30 forms? Using Crystal with the Notes ODBC driver we can see them all, but we would prefer the native driver as its quicker and less hassle.

We have discussed this with Crystal Reports support and they gave us a couple of things to try but nothing worked. They then said there is nothing they can do. Anyone had this happen or have any idea what may be happening?

Does anyone use Integra4Notes? We might look at this as an alternative if we cant get Crystal doing what we want.

Subject: Integra for Notes

Thanks for thinking of us!Besides the fact that I like to confirm that Integra for Notes handles your forms better (also subforms) and that I4N doesn’t require any stuff to be installed on your workstations, nor does it require changes in the design of the databases you report on, most importantly, I like to answer your question: Does anyone use Integra? YES!

Have a look at a sample set of clients at Integra for Notes Users

Feel free to contact me if you want to get in touch with some of them.

Subject: RE: Integra for Notes

I am using Crystal Reports 9. I believe it works with Lotus Notes better than CR 10. I know that sounds crazy, but CR version 10 and Notes don’t seem to get along.

I would prefer Integra, but the cost difference was not something we could justify. For around $500 I can have 750 users on CR. It would cost me over $4000 for Integra. Thats more than I paid for my server, Win2K, etc…

Subject: RE: Integra for Notes

That might be the case in a scenario where 1 person creates a report and 750 run that report. But obviously, there is more to consider…

Integra becomes much cheaper than Crystal, when its being used by multiple people creating reports. Obviously, Integra is much easier to create reports, so you don’t have to be a programmer. (you can delegate report creation to the ones that want their data out of Notes)

Integra Quick Reports caters for the launching of Reports created by Integra.

Subject: Microsoft SQL Reporting Services + Proposion Report Adapter for Lotus Notes

Have you considered Microsoft SQL Reporting Services? This is a new reporting tool that competes with Crystal, etc. It is an amazingly popular product, partly because if is now free (retroactively) with your SQL Server license. I was amazed at how many people I met at Lotusphere who were already using it.

Anyway, Proposion Report Adapter is an add-in that turns Microsoft Reporting Services into a great reporting/charting tool for Lotus Notes databases. Our extension knows all about the “weird” things in the Notes world like attachments, images, multi-valued items, and access control rules. In addition, we add the option of delivering reports (regardless of the data source) to subscribers via native Notes mail and/or depositing scheduled reports into Notes databases (which allows users to build cool report archiving/workflow/distribution applications).
