Cross certification fail when a domino server is reinstalled

I had a domino server (R5) for a small group of Domain “MAIN”. But the harddisk crashed and we had no backup and reinstalled the whole domino server (R7.0.2). Unfortunately, we keep the same domain name “MAIN”

My customers of domain “A” used to access the old server with their own IDs. However, it doesn’t work anymore even if I had helped to cross certify the ID (on my new server) and delete the cross cert in users’ own address books. They are runniing on Notes 5 client. Don’t know if it’s the cause.

Error message was prompted when he tried to access the server. “The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details.”. Somehow the workstations seem to remember the old certificate.

But it worked fine for my organization of domain “B”. I deleted the cross cert on my workstation and then cross certify my ID on the new administrator of my new server.

Then both me and my colleague of the same organization can access the new domino server without problem.

Anyone know why my customers can’t access it? how can i fix it? I know it’s messy that we kept the same domain name…

Make sure you are using a key strength in the 7.0.2 environment that is compatible with all releases (512 or 630 bits).

Thanks Chad. I simply change the compatibility bits but it didn’t work. I had to reinstall the server with the setting of compatible to all relaeases. It worked now. Thanks.
