We need to create main and response documents from xml file. So, in the file there will be main document and after that several responses. We would like to use Lotuscript’s XMLclasses, so xml -file would look like:
…documentdata
But how should we represent responses? I know that you can give attributes that the document is response, but then you have to give parents UNID and if parents are created from the xml-file, you don’t know their UNID yet.
Any help?

Subject: little-known DXL feature - key attribute
You can do
…
on the parent document and then you can do
…
on the child document. You can use any identifier for the key, even a dummy UNID string, but it is up to you to maintain uniqueness among the keys. Hopefully there is something in your input data that can be used as a unique parent key.

VERY little-known until just now. That, sir, is a bee-you-tee-ful tip. Thanks.
Subject: wish I had mentioned it before, wish it was better documented
Sometimes the DTD has more info than the online help.
Look at the DTD and search for key:
This makes me think of another feature that folks might not be aware of that lets you import attachments and Java code for agents, etc. directly from the filesystem.
DXL could probably use other features like this. If you have any ideas, please suggest them (in a main topic).

“little-known” == “undocumented”
There’s documentation on the key attribute for a note (“User-specified ID that identifies a note and enables the user to reference it.”), but the parent attribute is specifically defined as “Universal id of the parent document.”
Anyway, yeah, that’s pretty cool.

Works!
Thank you very much.
