Creating fields programmatically

Is it possible to create a dynamic list of fields on a form using LotusScript?

I would like to have a list of radio button / text box pairs automatically created when the form is opened, one for each row in a separate view. The names of the fields are generated using data from the view and will be unique.

The only way I found so far is having all possible fields on the form and hide the ones that are not in the view using a Formula.

However, this technique is not very scalable.

Is there a better way?

Thanks

It is certainly possible to do this using a third party product, such as our Midas Rich Text LSX, and it is probably possible as well using DXL, although it is a challenge to get it to happen at the right moment. I think the bigger question is whether it is the right thing to do. What are you trying to accomplish? Would in-view editing solve your problem better?

You can always create so-called backend fields that exists on the underlying document/note but not on any form. What I think you’re asking though is whether you can create new ui fields dynamically. For this I see two solutions:1. use DXL to automatically generate the form - this probably isn’t applicable for on-the-fly form generation in production

  1. generate backend fields using LotusScript and create the fields as pass-through html in the Notes client.

Good luck.
