Hi,
If you can shine some light into this problem, it will be greatly appreciated.
In Designer on an xPage, I click on the View control to create one, then I click on the location on the xPage where I want it to display, the Select Data Source For View window appears, I select a previously created Domino View data source and Designer freezes, it does not respond, it never shows me Domino view columns to display.
I created a simple view, no sorting or categorization, nothing fancy, simple selection formula, 5 columns to display the value of five text fields, I open it in Notes to make sure the view index exists before creating the xpage, but nothing work.
I am running Notes and Domino 8.5.1FP2.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ignacio.
Subject: I don’t see this, but I do experience a serious delay…
- Naturally everything is utterly unresponsive during the delay. By “serious”, I mean a good ten seconds or better, which is pretty serious on a multi-core machine with oodles of RAM. This thing could probably calculate a full decent trajectory for the space shuttle in that amount of time, so one has to wonder what DDE doing with it. But at least it doesn’t crash.
Hope this helps…
Subject: How big is your db ???
Thanks for the response.
Quick question, how big is your db? I get the same behavior from multiple databases, both have over 250K docs and are over 8GB in size.

Subject: Tiny. It’s a dev db w/ about 200 docs.
Subject: I have this problem in 8.5.1 too
As the subject says, I also have this problem. Highly annoying as it freezes the client, eventually crashes and I may have something unsaved open.
In the end what I do to get around what I can only describe as a bug (I’m now going with that it’s a bug seeing as I’m not the only one with this problem now), is to set things up manually.
I drop the view control in on the Xpage and it asks me to set up a data source, I select ‘select data source later’ instead. I then click on the view control that been put on the XPage to get focus on it and use the ‘data’ section under the control properties and set up the data source after I’ve dropped the control on the page.
I then add the columns to the control (right click on the control and select insert column), and then bind the column to what I need through the column properties and the data source I just set.
Hope that helps
Subject: Re: Creating an xPage view control error - hang
Yes, I get this quite commonly too. Once you’ve killed the Designer client it then takes ages to “restore metafiles” and “Initialize Java Tooling”.
I now tend to add Views manually in the Data Source.
