Creating a view with a categorized field of which the name may vary from document to document

I have a document with following fields in a table:

Date |Who |What |Status

---------------------------------------------------------------------- | | |

date1 |name1 | text1 |Status1

----------------------------------------------------------------------date2 |name2 | text2 |Status2

date3 |name3 | text3 |Status3

… can go upto 20 rows…

The name of the person in field name1 may occur in the field name7 in another document or in the field name12 in another document…and so on.

I now need to make a view by name, generating all documents for that specific person (categorized). How can I do that?

I hope I expressed myself clear.

Thanks.

If i understand, because my english is not very good, you want to categorise documents by person who can be in a lot of differentes fields. You want to categorise the document for one person witch is name is in field name1, name2,… name20.

If it’s true, in your categorize column you must specified the formulas :

name1:name2:name3:name4:name5:name6:name7:name8:name9:name10:name11:name12:name13:name14:name15:name16:name17:name18:name19:name20

I hope this is help you.

I forget something, the better way is to use the formulas :

@Trim(name1:name2:name3:name4:name5:name6:name7:name8:name9:name10:name11:name12:name13:name14:name15:name16:name17:name18:name19:name20)

So the empty field name are not used.

You can also add @Unique(@Trim(…)) so if a username is in more than one field the formulas return only the username one time.

Better still -

Add that as a computed form on the documents, then categorize the view by that field.

This way you aren’t creating the list in view (means faster view updates)
