Creating a new mail view with Discussion Threads

Hello,

I want to create a new view based on the inbox but have it designed like the Discussion Thread view. I already have a view and it’s working like the Discussion Thread view (showing all email) but how do I select only mail which is in the inbox? does anyone know the code for view selection in the Inbox folder?

Just have a look at the Inbox code using the Designer client.

If it only shows documents in the inbox, how can you see your replies, and the conversations that you initiated??

I’ve already tried that, it doesn’t make any sense to me that’s why I’ve posted this on the forum. Think it might be acting different as I’m creating a view and it’s a folder? Can you help?

I see the problem as I tried to perform your request. In fact, what is different is the View Selection. I tried to add conditions as from = Memo, Return Receipt, … but I have still some old documents as they are in some folders.

Also, the Folder “Inbox” is like an agent (new mail only).

What you maybe should try, if nobody knows the solution, is to add a field to the memo form (for new mail) and select the forms for whhich this field is true.

But, why do you want to have this view ?

Some managers have requested this view. As a company we receive a huge amount of email and their inbox could have over 2,000+ emails in it, rather than filtering them out to folders.

They find the Discussion Thread view too big to go through, and wanted another view which only had everything listed from their inbox in a discussion type view.

($Inbox) is not a view, it’s a folder – and folders don’t have selection formulas. Messages get into your inbox because that’s where the Router task puts them (unless a rule tells it to do differently). You can’t create a view that automatically selects only documents that are in your inbox.
