We’ve just been asked by a customer if we can offer an application we’ve developed, translated into the Chinese language. Does anyone have any tips on what this sort of thing entails? We’d mainly be looking to use the same database design, with changes to the user interface to allow for Chinese characters, in field labels and text input.
Are we looking at a Domino Global Workbench setup, or is it smarter to simply move the databases onto a Chinese server version? Has anyone undertaken this sort of project before and can point me in the right direction?

You best bet is to use DGW. If you can set up the source database properly, and have a translator available, then getting the design translated is very easy. We have used DGW to translate our application into 3 different languages. Before starting off with the process, first decide whether you want a unilingual application or a multilingual application. I will direct you to the following articles that are available in the IBM Globalization web sites.
