Crash information not extracted

My servers and Notes clients are set up to mail in crash information a faults report database. “Run NSD to collect Diagnostic Information” is set in the server doc, along with “Run Fault Analyzer” in the server config doc.

When the server crashes (I have some BES issues right now, it’s crashing at least daily), nsd info is not being attached to the fault report, I get the following message:

Crash information not extracted! Make sure nsd is configured to run on the server document.

I’m not realy sure what I am missing, I have configured this for another Win 2003 Dom 8.5 server and an iSeries Dom 8.5 server, which report faults with nsd info, thankfully, they very rarely fail.

Anyone got any ideas.

Many thanks in advance.

Nick

Subject: Is the NSD being created on the BES server and is there a “FATAL STACK” section?

Subject: NSD

No NSD is being generated. The Fault Report comes back with “Crash information not extracted! Make sure nsd is configured to run on the server document”.

I am confident I have the server configured correctly:

I have also looked in the Data\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT directory, no nsd files are being generated.

It is generating the diagindex…nbf files, sysinfo_…log and consol_…log files.

Subject: As a test, see what happens when you take a manual nsd?

In command prompt from Domino Program Directory run nsd.exe and see if it runs to completion and generates an nsd log file…

Subject: Manual NSD

I ran a nsd -detach, an NSD was successfully generated.

Subject: Crash information not extracted! Make sure nsd is configured to run on the server document.

Hello,

we are experiencing the same issue. When server (Domino 8.5.1) crashes, we get the meassge “Crash information not extracted! Make sure nsd is configured to run on the server document.” and in the \Lotus\Domino\Data\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT directory there are only diagindex…nbf files, sysinfo_…log and consol_…log files, logasio…log files, and xpages…log files.

Did anyone find a solution for this issue?

Kind Regards

Martin

Subject: Domino 8.5.2

We’re seeing the same message after upgrading to 8.5.2 - anyone find a solution to this? Prior to upgrading, the crash info was being collected correctly.

Subject: nsd.ini

did you check if you have an nsd.ini and if that file is actually in the path of the server?

I have also run into issues with upgrades/FP/HF where some files that the NSD polls for information on where to pull data out of the Domino stack for analysis are not updated correctly and the nsd is not pulling correct information.

Thanks for your response…

I think I can only post screen shots if I use the Notes client version of this forum(?), which I’m not using, but I enclose a text version, see below.

Further information:

This server is a BES server (4.1.6) and the CPU has been really high for the last week or so, no configuration changes have been made to either BES or Domino in months. The server starts up, remains at a “normal” level, the CPU barely registers, we only have 11 Blackberry users. Then the nserver.exe task ramps up to 50%, then remains there…until server crashes…? The nsd might give me an indication of what processes is causing the nserver task to run so high. I have turned off the Rich Text functionality on BES server. The only “config” change that has happened to box was Symantec was upgraded by my network guy, about a month ago.

Thanks in advance.

Nick
