Couldn't open file notesnsd.ini

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my mail server to 6.5. At the same time, I registered and installed a second Domino Server (v.6.03) to act as my Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES doesn’t support 6.5 yet).

The 6.5 server is working fine, but I’m having issues with the 6.03 BES server.

The server is running, and the BES part of it is working fine.

However; everytime I start the Domino server I get the message “Fatal(0): Couldn’t open file notesnsd.ini”. Despite this, the server seems to start (at least the BES is functioning just fine). I see the notesnsd.ini file is in c:\WinntSrv.

Also, I am unable to access this sever using Domino Administrator. The only way I’ve been able to admin the server is using the webadmin.nsf. When I try to open the new server in the admin client, I get “The server is not responding. The server may be down or you may be experiencing network problems…”.

I don’t know if these two things are linked or not…any good ideas to start with?

thanks,

Dan

I doubt they’re related. NSD runs during initialization to collect some system data for use in case there are problems later. It creates sysinfo_w32i_hostname_date_time.log files in the support directory (IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT)

The current version of NSD attempts to access notesnsd.ini in the Windows system directory and warns if it fails, usually due to a lack of permission. All that will happen will be the failure to produce the sysinfo file. We’re looking at the issue.
