Cost for Domino Server and Client

Can anyone guide me how much on average does it cost for a domino server and client users, say around 1000 users? I was informed by my IT department MS Exchange is charging it much less. However, they refused to give me the breakdown when I asked them… Just to get a feel of the numbers…

You need to figure out who is your local IBM rep and call them. Most of the issues you’re posted are things an IBM staffer can help you with.

Find out who your company uses to buy software. Call them. See if they can get you the quotes on Exchange. See if they can provide quotes for Notes/Domino.

Find a local business partner - ask them for help.

Local help is better than anything for the kind of fight you have on your hands.

Good luck.

you can get Domino Collaboration Express for $103 USD (competitive upgrade). The cost is per Notes user and entitles you to set up virtually unlimited Domino severs. Don’t forget, you can also use Sametime IM within the Notes client for no additional cost.

but pricing went up Jan 1st so it’s $103 not 99.

don’t forget, a notes license allows you to use your id for Notes mail and applications on multiple pc’s and domino web mail and web applications.

Now, about Exchange 2007, it requires 64bit servers and Windows 64 bit. Also, a new directory. Throw out the old and redeploy. Notes/Domino has always been backward compatible. What’s that worth? Oh, you can build thousands of secure applications too :-).

When you run Domino on linux you can beat the heck out of MS Server in terms of price.

Last I looked you can’t run exchange on linux.
