Since I have upgraded the notes server from R5.11 to r651, we are getting a lot of corrupt mail files. The users are still on r5.11 or 511 clients and the mail files have not been upgraded. Any ideas why this is happening? Nothing else in network has changed.

compact users maildatabase to get the new ODS Version 43.
Use compact without any parameters this has helped us after migration.
