Hello All,
Some of our users are getting corrupt database when they try and send emails.
I am not very good with notes and was wondering if someone can walk me through in running the compact command on these user to see if this fiixes the problem?
I ran compact from the notes client, this did not resolve the problem.
any advice will greatly be appreciated.
Do i need to shut down the notes server while doing this task?

sounds like maybe your server’s names.nsf is corrupt. That would be why many users are getting the message. I would doubt that all users mail databases became corrupt suddenly. at the console type load fixup names.nsf and reboot the server. It is a start.

John, thank you for the reply.
Not all the users are having the corrupt database error. Only selected few, we have just finished upgrade to version 6. Since then i have been getting this problem.
Do i still need to do this for the names.nsf file? Do i need to shutdown the domino server before doing this or, can i run this while there are users connected to it?
Sorry for asking to many questions, i am new to this environment and want to be 100% sure what to do.
Many thanks.
Hamid

yes, you can do it while the users are connected. maybe just do a load fixup from the domino console. this will attempt to repair any corrupt databases. then try to reboot the server and see if any messages come up on the console that would indicate corruption.

all databases to ODS 4.3? If not then you will need to.
