A vexing problem with a particular client; for quite some time and seemingly at random, their bookmark.nsf would become corrupt and have to be deleted. Recently, their names.nsf have started becoming (again seemingly at random) corrupt. I took the time to trouble-shoot one and found out it was a single location document that was the problem; it had decided it wasn’t there anymore, and if I looked in the Address Book it wasn’t there anymore, yet it showed up in the list of locations that could be switched to and in $Locations. It would not let me delete it out of here, because it said the location didn’t exist! A new copy of the Address Book and things were fine.
Now, I know how to fix both these problems easily enough at this point. But what I want to do is try to stop it happening in the first place. It’s all a standard setup, small company of about 10 users, Norton Antivirus, XP clients, 2003 server. Does anyone have any ideas or guesses about why these users’ files are getting corrupt so frequently? I haven’t seen this with any other setup I’ve admined or set up.
