Copy rich text error

I am using the following to copy a rich text item from one form to another between 2 databases.

Set item1 = doc.GetFirstItem(“name1”)

Call doc2.CopyItem(item1, “name2” )

The doc2 is initially saved after the copyitem. This works most of the time. However, if the original rich text item has tables in it, after the user opens doc2 and saves, it cannot be opened again and causes the Notes Client to crash. The only message is an ‘unexpected error’. Any ideas on how I can get around this? All of the clients are run on Win XP sp2 and everyone is on Notes 7.0.

There are at least two other options for you to try.

  1. notesItem.CopyItemToDocument( document, newName$ )

  2. notesRichTextItem.AppendRTItem( notesRichTextItem2 )

At a guess, I’d say that option 1 wouldn’t be much different from what you have, but it won’t hurt to try.

I have used option 2 on numerous occasions and I can’t recall ever getting the problems you describe.
