Hi, (sorry I’m french… ;))I want to know how can I copy a directory from a mail database (with subdirectories) with all the mail inside to an other mail database (what client to do that ? → designer, administrator, notes ?)
Subject: Copy mail directory into other mail database
If this is a one-time only thing, you can do it manually using notes or notes + designer. With only notes, create same-named folders in the new database first. With designer, copy the folders to the new database first. Then, open each folder/subfolder, select all emails, copy, open the new database and open the same-named folder/subfolder, then paste.
If the ‘other mail database’ is new, then maybe create it by creating a copy of the old database. You’ll get all the documents in all the folders that way.
If there are a lot, or you’ll be doing this several times, you could write a script. Read up in the help - You’ll want to use:
-
notesview to access the folders in the old db
-
notesview.name to get their name
-
notesdatabase.enablefolder to create a folder with the same name in the new database
-
notesdocument.copytodatabase for each document
-
then you’ll have to figure out how to get a handle on the document you jsut created in the new database
-
then use Call doc.PutInFolder to move it to the folder
