We have been Lotus Notes / Domino users since the beginnings of R5 and have continually upgraded all of our systems for many years now. As a result, we keep copying our users address books from one version to the next and upgrading the templates.
This works fine, however it leaves us with remnants in the address books that were only applicable in earlier versions of Notes, such as the old Location names (Office, Home, Island, etc.).
I would really like to find a way to update these things to the new conventions, or possibly find a way to generate a new address book with those new conventions and easily import contacts and groups from the old one.
The only truly clean way I know is to do a fresh install of Lotus Notes and manually copy the old contacts and groups into the new address book. But we’re talking about a couple thousand installs plus a lot of manual copying which I don’t want to do.
My end goal would be to migrate all of these address books to the Online / Offline convention of Locations that is typical of the new versions of Lotus Notes. Any ideas?
