We currently have 8000 global users with notes client version 5.0.10 on 6.5.2 servers(W2K and Solaris 2.8). The mailfiles are ODS43 and all users are using the iNotes5 English template. We do not have any Language Packs installed but users have thier native language of the client installed on their PC.
I have condicted tests on a test server as follows;
I have installed the Language pack on to all templates and have found that when a user on the test server is converted using the load convert command they will not autmatically get the language templates until they Replace design of their mailfile and choose the correct language.
Problem: We are planning on giving the end users Editor access to their mail files so they will not be able to do a replace design after the upgrade.
Question: Is there any way that you can run the load convert or any other script to set what lanuguage to use? I know I could make different iNotes templates for each language but the iNotes template has some customization and I would not want to update all of the templates when there was an upgrade.
I could also have the users replace design now because they have designer access but I do not want them to choose more than one language becuase of the horrible response time you get when opening your mailfile when it is set to something other than the default.
I have done extensive testing on changing the db properties and user preferneces on the iNotes template and the client and cannot find a way to accomplish this seemingly simple task.
Am I missing something? Any feedback would be appreciated, I cannot seem to find much info on the Language Packs anywere.
Thanks in Advance for any input.
