Converting mail db's to ODS 43

Does it matter if the mail db’s on a Domino 6 server are converted to ODS 43 before the actual Notes clients are upgraded to R6?

I have waited to convert the db’s to ODS 43 to make sure that our newly upgraded R6 server was stable. I am planning to compact of the mail db’s to convert to ODS 43 and then start phased approach of upgrading Notes clients to R6. Just not sure if there would be problems with a R5 client accessing mail db (ODS 43) on a R6 server.

No – the ODS is the On Disk Structure, which only indicates how that particular file is being stored on that particular machine. It doesn’t affect things like RPC calls.
