Subject: Converting .doc to .tiff through LotusScript
Hey
Is there a chance that I could get that “button” that takes a Notes document and a creates a Word doc. I’m in the situation that I need to pull heaps of Notes documents out of a Notes database and still maintain the original formatting of the Notes document? Sadly the “export to .rtf” function embedded in Notes does not keep the formatting so I’m in dire need of a tool/script that can help me convert the Notes documents to editable Word docs.

It is a commercial product, but our Midas Rich Text LSX does a good job of this, and is used by a number of companies to convert to MS Word (or a number of other formats). There are other products, such as Integra, that also handle this, although I have no idea about the comparative pricing or features of various products.

I have used a product call tiffmaker and it integrates easily with notes via the lotuscript shell command. They have a comand line tool that allows you to do this behind the scenes passing in parameters.
I have not done it wtih word docs but with text files and implemented a high volume corporate solution tha works well.

Sorry, acutally I worked on that project a few years ago (I am a consultant and hop around alot) and don’t have access to the code anymore. Its a good sign that the company is still in business and the software is pretty inexpensive.
I know there are a few ways you can do it via the shell command. Either code it all in a .bat/.cmd (batch file) and call the batch file via script or call the executable and pass the parameters via script.
This should give you a good idea how the application works:
