Conversation Threads - OpenViewThreads reseting to zero

We are just finishing up our Pilot Upgrade and getting ready to start rolling R8.5 out to users but a few pilot users have brought to my attention that Threaded messages were no longer working.

Upon checking my mail file I noticed the same thing so did some checking and found a Technote : http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&context=SSKTMJ&context=SSCVRGU&context=SSPQ69&context=SSKTWP&context=SSKTPA&q1=conversation&uid=swg21331170&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=en

To resolve the Tech Note states:

To correct the problem, add the setting OpenViewThreads=1 to the NOTES.INI file for Notes 8.5 clients enabled for roaming.

Unfortunately this only works temporarily.

I’ve set that value to 1 and even removed the line completely from the Notes.ini.

Upon the next start of lotus Notes the line returns to Openveiwthreads=0 and threaded messages no longer work.

We are using policy’s and could force that setting to 1 as stated in that Tech note but it seems there maybe something else going on here causing that setting to revert to zero each time.

This does seems to be a Roaming issue as users who are on the pilot and are not roaming do not have the problem. We use Roaming here for Blackberry’s only.

Thanks for any insight,

Shane Meisner

Subject: 8.5 client and 8.5 Server

Interesting side note…so far…

The previous post was in regards to a R8.5 client connecting to a R8.0.2 Server.

I just finished setting up a test user with a R8.5 client against a R8.5 server and, even though the OpenViewThreads setting reverted back to Zero, threaded messages were working just fine.

Might just be yet another quirk of a R8.5 Client hitting a R8.0.2 Server…

I’ll keep testing.

Subject: We experience the same

Thanks for your update, we have excactly the same behaviour for users replicating with a 8.0.2 server.

We also tried to turn off the policies, but still have the same problem.

Subject: Still having the problem

I am still having the same issue, even though it is a 8.51 server and 8.51 client keeps reverting back.
