Controls Pane continually re-expands all entries

  • When I’m using DDE I collapse all the items under “Controls” so, say, only “Core Controls” is expanded and the rest are not. Then I open any Custom Control, XPage, or any element that supports the Controls Pane. The Controls Pane then expands all of its items “for” me.- If I open something that doesn’t support the Controls Pane, like a Theme, then the elements are not automagically expanded, even if I then select a tab with an element that does support Controls.

  • Closing any element, even one that supports Controls, does not expand all the items, nor does saving one. It seems that opening an element that supports controls always fully initializes that pane, wiping out any current settings.

  • It is obviously caching the Controls Pane settings somewhere because it repaints with the in-effect collapsed state even when different tabs support different elements within the Controls Pane. For instance a Custom Control has an “Editable Area” element in “Core Controls”, which is the only expanded item in the Controls Pane. Xpage does not have that entry, and a LotusScript Script Library doesn’t support Controls at all. If I have a Custom Control, and XPage, and a LS library open one each in a tab, and I click from one to the other, I get only “Core Controls” expanded with an “Editable Area” entry on the Custom Control, I get only “Core Controls” expanded without an “Editable Area” on the XPage, and I get “A palette is not available” in the LS libary. This remains consistently in effect until I open any Design element that supports Controls, at which point all elements, even on previously open tabs, will suddenly have all the Controls items fully expanded again.

  • Is this a serious issue? Of course not. But it is annoying to have to continually click and click and click and click to re-collapse the things I didn’t want to see to start with. The left-side navigator finally seems to remember what I have opened and closed, and this should as well. That’s all.

  • I realize I can click on an item in an expanded list, and then use the scroll wheel to move up and down. That’s certainly a VERY nice feature, and it goes a long way towards making this automagic expansion better, because it’s relatively simple to search for the control I want.

  • Thanks for your time…
