We have an Internet Explorer application which contains a form that we are submitting for processing using a “mailto” function. Lotus Notes has been specified as the email program to IE.
We have a controlled environment where our users will have IE 5 or 6 and Notes 5.0.11 or 6.
The problem is that for all but one of our testers, the submit of the form as email results in a note under Lotus with an attachment with a filename of “POSTDATA.ATT” which is what we expect. For one user (running IE 6 and Notes 6.0.2CF1) the attachment is “ATTxx.XLS” (xx=hex counter that increments each time.) This file is using an encoding scheme that we have not yet determined how to process.
The question is what in Notes is controlling the filename of the attachment? We have checked all the settings under Notes and IE to see where there are differences and have not been successful in getting any of the ones we found to impact the result.
The user with the problem sees it on his PC at the office and on a separate one at home. One machine runs a standard corporate installation and the other is a personal machine that is configured to connect to the corporate system. On both machines, he accesses the same Lotus Notes account for email.
