Contacts Database - Group mailing

Hi all,

I have a question about the functionality of the personal address book.

Basically, I would like a customer database where I can put some customers contact information then, form groups based on the customer category. From these groups I would like to send an email, such as a newsletter, or new products brochure etc.

So far, I have an address book database with a large number of customers in it, each categorised appropriately.

I want to be able to click one button and the Memo form comes up populated as below, or something just as simple to the same affect.

to: Category1

cc:

bcc: bob@123.com, fred@456.com, bill@789.com etc.

Is it possible with the standard address database to achieve my goal, or will I need to modify the template?

Normally, if I wanted to mail a group, I would just type the group name into the to: field, however, I can’t seem to find an easy way to add contacts to a group, or send mail to a category in the same fashion.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Geoff Raven

There is a feature in the Contacts database that you might be able to work off, to get the results you want. Go to the Groups view, select a group, and click the action button with a picture of an envelope. A new mail message will appear, with the selected group(s) in the To field.

This action button runs the (CreateMailMemo) agent in the database. You could use that agent as a starting point for the feature that you want.
