One of our new users recently got his account and I installed the V8 client on his desktop(xp) and his laptop(Vista). User also had a phone that we synced up. He wanted all of his contacts to sync so I setup replication to occur hourly and on startup/shutdown of the client. For some reason only the desktop replicates, the laptop gets to 100% but does not replicate any of the contacts. Any ideas, greatly appreciated.
Subject: Mail file or address book?
Are you trying to replicate the contacts into the mail file or just across machine? Enabling the synchronization through the preferences will put the contacts into the mail file. Could you please specify the exact functionality you want?
Subject: Client - Client
I would like the contacts from one client to sync to the other client. Also, since the contacts would be uploaded to the mail file, then they would also sync to the phone.
I am able to open the mail file copy on both clients(desktop/laptop) and see that the desktop replication did work but for some reason it is not working on the laptop
Subject: Local mailfile
Does the user have local replicas of the mail file? You can check th $Contacts view of the mail file(s) to see that the contacts are in there, (Ctrl+Shift → View → Go To). If they are all in there, the contacts should replicate down. I would try re-running setup on the problem client and starting fresh, removing the local replica in place and pulling down a new one.

Subject: Replicate contacts
In Notes 8, you must enable the synchronization of contacts in the Contacts Preferences. (Preferences → Contacts) After you do this, you will see an entry on the replication page to synchronize contact. Enable this, then kick off replication, and all should be well.
Subject: Enabled
Hi Andreas
The enable setting has already been enabled on both the desktop and laptop.
