Connecting to eternal database

Hi

I want to connect to an external mysql database! It will be the first time!

After some research i made some conclusions but i need some info on them!

I must create a DSN! But where? On the lotus server where the database that will triger the conection resides?

Do I have to make a database connection in shared resources?

Is it enough to create a button on a form and place all the code in it, to insert data in the ext database?

What else must be done?

Thanks

Brane

Subject: Connecting to eternal database

If you’re going to use ODBC, then you must set up ODBC on whatever computer is doing the work. If you plan to run the code at the server level, then the server must have ODBC installed and the data source defined. If you want the code to run on the user PC, then each computer that will be connecting to the MySQL db will need to have ODBC set up.

I’ve done it local and will (eventually) be trying it at the server level.
