Is there any way to use Notes client to send and recieve mail from hotmail.im using the Notes client only at home do we have to install server for the same.Kindly let me know is there anyway to purely use as mail client.

Notes client does work well with pop3 accounts. Ask your email provider if they offer pop3 access.
Client setup:
with Lotus Notes Client, go to View… Advanced… Accounts
there you can create an account doc for inbound (POP3) and another for outbound, if you want to use them for outbound (SMTP) - give them account names like inbound and outbound
Then to receive your pop3 mail, just click the envelope picture (bottom right of lotus notes client) and select Receive Mail.
If you do want to use them for outbound, then post that question here and ask for help setting up a location doc for sending smtp mail.

Hotmail does not allow direct access to mail account using POP3 protocoll. Not sure if even Hotmail Plus allows it.There are several third party solutions which seem to work by emulating accessing through web, here is one:
