Confusion over mail file move

Hello,

I moved a user’s mailbox from one server to another. I was under the impression that once the move took place that Adminp would delete the original copy. According to Adminp, the move is complete, but the file still exists on the original mail server. I don’t want this file to replicate back to it’s original home. Can I safely delete it from it’s original mail server? Also, an odd thing - the files are not the same size at all, but the number of documents is the same!!

TIA for any/all replies!

In the link I first provide you it explains the steps including:“Approve file deletion, Carried out: According to the administrator’s discretion.”

Have you gone into the admin DB and approved the deletion?

If so, “Delete mail file, Carried out: According to the “Interval” setting in the Administration Process section of the Server document”

Have you waited the period that you have configured?

For your second question, there is nothing odd about Notes DBs being different sizes. For example, one DB may have already had many folders/views opened (thus creating a view index which takes up size) vs. another that has yet to be used.

That’s it! Nothing more. Did something go awry?

Subject: Are your Admin4.nsf replicas of each other? Also are you looking on the Admin server, the old mail server, or the new mail server?

The Admin4.nsf files are all replicas.

Subject: New Adminp request…

Here’s what I just saw:

*Action: Approve Mail File Deletion

*Server(s) to perform the action: RPW2KP3/MATRIX

Replica ID: 85256C9C:00505E82

*Name(s) to perform the action on: Postmaster/MATRIX

*Action requested by: Marcia Stanton/MATRIX

*Name of process to perform action: Adminp

Database name: Mail\postmast.nsf

Database title: Postmaster

Database ACL: The following have Manager access to this database; Postmaster/MATRIX; RPNTP1/MATRIX; Reports/MATRIX; LocalDomainServers; Notes Admin

Database design template name: StdR6Mail

But there’s nothing for me to click on or to do to approve/process this… :frowning:

Ah, Admin 101.

If you had AdminP create the new replica there is/will be another request you have to approve before the server will delete the mail file.

If you ever have AdminP request questions, the best place to find answers is to go to the Admin Help doc called Administration process requests. They are all listed here along with all related adminp request, their trigger, what comes next, etc.

Most replicas will be different sizes even with the same # of docs due to white space issues, etc.
