Configuring for POP3 and SMTP

Hi,

I’m pretty new to R6 and don’t have much admin knowledge.

I currently have our mail system running SMTP for both send and receive.

I also have another personal mail account (POP3) that I would like to receive into my mail file or failing that another mail file, that is still accessible via my user id.

I’ve read the admin help on setting up POP3 but I’m not sure if I can have it running concurrently with SMTP - and to tell the truth I’m a little nervous about messing around with things and stopping all our mail from working (and I think my co-workers would be a bit upset too).

I suppose what I’m asking is it possible to get mail from two different domains/sources using different protocols into one mail file (or possibly two) e.g.

me@xyz.com (smtp)----> hhh_mail.nsf

me@abc.com (pop3)----> hhh_mail.nsf

Also, would it then be possible to choose which address I send mail with (like accounts in Outlook) e.g. send using…

Any help with this will be gratefully received.

HHH.

Subject: Configuring for POP3 and SMTP

to get your pop3 email into your notes client. you need to create a connection document in local name and address book.

in that document you put your username, password and server you are connecting and that will pull the mail from the pop3 server into your notes mail file.

smtp and pop3 can run on the same server they provide different services.

smtp is for internet mail (inbound and outbound) pop3 is the protocol that lets you get mail off of a server.
