Configuration IMAP

Hi,

I configured IMAP on the domino server. The port 143 for Email is “enabled” like the port 25. I can’t do a “telnet myMailserver 143”. It works for the others. I lose the connexion to the host.

How can I configure imap?

Regards,

Subject: Configuration IMAP

Hiya

First of all have you converted the mail files you wish to access using IMAP?

You need to convert them first in order to enable IMAP-specific features in the mail file.

You can find it under “Upgrading mail files with the mail conversion utility” in the Domino Admin help.

You can then check it using an IMAP client, for example Outlook Express.

You can also implement LDAP to perform lookups to the Domino Directory for Addresses to make it easier for users.

Thanks for your response,

I have already converts my mail files like that:

tell router quit

load convert -e mail\testImap.nsf

load router

I tried with outlook express but when I want to connect to server, it says that the server refuses the connexion.

It the reason that I tried to connect with telnet on the port 143. It refuses the connexion.

I think it’s a probleme with the configuration settings…

Have you a firewall in place?

If so it may be blocking access to port 143, or that is it might be blocking access to everything that isn’t specified as allowed and port 143 may not be explicitly allowed.

When looking at the firewall, if it is in place, remember that the rules are evaluated in order. Rule 1 first and so on.

There’s usually a rule at the end to drop everything that’s not already been specified as allow or drop and if not previously specified it will be this rule that is blocking your access to port 143.

Never remove this rule (N E V E R) but apply a rule before it to allow port 143.
